I've had my king size mattress for four years and it's become unbearable. It's firm, which is something I thought I needed to help manage back pain, but it's become so uncomfortable that I can hardly stand it. I actually dread going to sleep because of it.It was a big financial investment, too, which makes this situation all the more frustrating. Not to mention, it now has deep body impressions in it, so I kind of roll into a pit at night instead of sleeping on an even surface. I have considered getting rid of it and buying a new mattress, but I don't care to invest the money right now.I decided a mattress topper was the way to go. I did some research, and this one came highly recommended. The price was perfect, so I ordered it with very low expectations.Meanwhile, my miserably firm mattress was leaving me in pain every morning. Both shoulders and my low back were stiff and painful (I'm a side sleeper), and I couldn't wait for this mattress topper to arrive. I have had four nights of sleep on the new topper and I am feeling so much better.There is a memory foam pad that sits under a fluffy comforter-like topper. I fluffed it up by hand and then put it in the dryer for a few minutes. I left the memory foam pad to expand for about 7 hours before I put everything on the bed.The first night it felt a bit weird because the memory foam pad hugs your body, and I was worried I wasn't going to be able to sleep well. But when I woke up with less shoulder pain, I knew this was going to work.I assumed the topper was going to be hot, but it's cozy without feeling like you're roasting in a sauna all night. I'm really happy with this purchase, and I still can't believe how much better my body feels in the morning. I know items like this are hit or miss, but this was definitely a hit for me.If you're a side sleeper who wakes up in pain because of a mattress you're not yet ready to replace, give this a shot.**UPDATE (1/8/24): I've been sleeping on this mattress topper for almost a month now, and still loving it. Shoulder and back pain have subsided, and I no longer wake up with headaches. I was initially concerned the mattress topper would compress and flatten too much over time to be effective, but it's holding up well. I do rotate it once a week when I wash/change my sheets just to help even it out and avoid body impressions from ruining it.
